About

I love all music that is beautiful and inspirational, but especially sacred music that brings me closer to my Father in Heaven and the hymns of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This music has helped to develop my sense of worth and a deep spirituality. It has kept me grounded when I’ve experienced heartache and brought me fulfillment in happy times.

I’ve never been one to play music like it is written on the page, much to the hair pulling frustration of my dad and piano teachers. I just like it the way I like it. So, that is what you’ll find on this site. Sacred music the way I like it and a smattering of other pieces.

Although, I’ve always “improvised”, I didn’t actually know I could write music until my 30s when I kept plunking out a tune on the piano. (Now my husband was experiencing hair pulling frustration.) Out of desperation, he pleaded, “If you’re going to keep playing that, could you do something with it?” So, I tried. What do you know? If he hadn’t urged me, I don’t know if I would have ever seriously attempted it.

When I first sat down to write this “about” page, I described a pedantic journey of self-doubt, regaining lost confidence, and being plagued by feelings of less than because I am a mostly self-taught musician and completely self-taught composer, butI decided it was a self-absorbed yawner— Every one has a long journey and mine is no more or less than anyone else’s.

However, it is time to take a leap forward in my journey. So, to get that nagging voice out of my head, to pay tribute to my parents, to give thanks to my husband and children, to showcase local musicians and to honor my Father in Heaven for granting me a gift that I haven’t always known what to do with, I have decided to publish this music.

I hope it brings you closer to God, your faith and your family.
